Norma Rachaunda Toussaint is a certified project manager professional (PMP) with over 12 years of experience providing project oversight for US Government-supported projects in both not-for-profit and for-profit global environments. As a Senior Advisor for Food Security and Learning at Mercy Corps, she leads learning on sustainability and exit planning on the IDEAL activity which is funded by USAID’s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance. Prior to joining Mercy Corps, she was a Senior Program Manager at Counterpart International (CPI) and led the food security portfolio, managing USDA and USAID projects based in Senegal and Mauritania. Before joining CPI in 2016, Norma was a visiting lecturer at the Université Nouvelle Grand'Anse, in Jeremie, Haiti, teaching a course on international organizations to Haitian farmers and agronomists. She has a bachelor’s in political science from the University of Central Florida and a master’s in international relations from American University. She also has a graduate certificate in sustainable agriculture and food systems program from Tufts University, Friedman School of Nutrition Science & Policy. Her work experience includes food security, agriculture, international exchange programs, and adult education. Whether professionally or academically, Norma looks for ways to bridge her lived and learned experience within food security together with inclusion and justice to advocate for a more equitable and sustainable food system for both people and planet.
