Norman Emerson

I was a teacher, Head of Department, Deputy Head and National Development Officer before being appointed to lead the national development programme - ‘Assessment is for Learning’ in Scotland. In 2010, I was appointed to the post of Assistant Director within Education Scotland with responsibility for the new assessment arrangements as part of the Curriculum for Excellence programme. In March 2014, I was appointed to the post of Director, Curriculum and Assessment with the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment in Ireland. Over the last 3 years I have been the Key Expert leading assessment developments for an EU project in Tajikistan where I have successfully led the delivery of the first national assessment study in the country.
