Prabu Deepan (He / Him)

Prabu Deepan is the Regional Director for Asia at Tearfund, providing strategic leadership across 15 countries and overseeing holistic relief and development programs. He leads the Asia senior leadership team and supports the integration of faith-based approaches to tackle poverty and injustice in diverse contexts. Previously, Prabu headed Tearfund’s Thematic Support Team, coordinating a global network of technical specialists across six key sectors: WASH, Gender & Protection, Peacebuilding, Economic Empowerment, Church & Community Mobilisation, and Quality, Learning & Accountability. With over 18 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and management, Prabu brings deep expertise in gender equality, sexual and reproductive health, and gender-based violence prevention and response—particularly through community mobilization, youth engagement, and faith-rooted strategies. He is the co-creator of Tearfund’s evidence-based Transforming Masculinities model—an intervention addressing harmful gender norms and violence prevention—currently implemented in more than 15 countries and available in over 12 languages. Prabu is also committed to organisational change and equity, playing a key role in Tearfund’s internal diversity and inclusion efforts and serving on the global steering committee that guides this work.
