With a background in agricultural economics by training, Sedef Akgungor has research expertise and experience on agricultural development, monitoring and evaluation of agricultural projects, social capital, regional economics, regional development, economics of food safety. She has 20 years of experience in leading and participating in the EU projects including European Science Foundation Eurocores programme, European Science Foundation Collaborative Research Project programme, COST and EU Framework 7 programme as well as bilateral joint research projects with various European Institutions, including University of Hohenheim and Ghent University. She served as an expert in various EU framework programme workshops including EC Joint Research Centers, Ispra and Montpellier. She has worked as a researcher with the monitoring and evaluation team of Heifer International (USA) in their rural livelihood projects in Philippines (Philippines Sustainable Agri-Business Project) and Malawi (Smallholder Dairy Development (MSDD) Project) since 2014. She gave training seminars for the monitoring and evaluation staff in Heifer International Nepal and Malawi country offices. She has over 100 publications, including journal articles, symposium proceedings, book chapters and books with over 500 citations (h-index: 15).
