Stephen Mallowah was until December 2013 the first Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer of the Anti-Counterfeit Agency (ACA) in Kenya. ACA is a dedicated, specialized anti-counterfeiting and anti-piracy agency. Stephen was responsible for providing strategic and visionary leadership with full operational responsibility in the development, implementation and evaluation of strategic plans developed by the Board to achieve the organizations statutory mandate.
My previous role was Board Secretary at the Retirement Benefits Authority, a financial services regulator tasked with supervising the Kshs. 500 billion (US$ 6 billion) contractual savings and pensions sector. I am a lawyer by training, member of the Kenyan/ East African bar and hold an LL.M. in Corporate & Commercial Law from University College London. I have extensive knowledge of corporate and commercial law, and international trade law. I have extensive knowledge and understanding of the operations of the WTO, UNCTAD, and multilateral agreements such as GATT and TRIPS.
With respect to public policy and public administration, in addition to extensive experience, I also hold an MSc in Public Policy and Management from the School of Oriental & African Studies, University of London.
