Summary

Steven Iphani is a Malawian man with nine years’ experience of working in programme development with both local civil society and international NGOs through collaborative assignments, research related consultancies and management of projects funded by bilateral and multilateral development partners. He has experience and proven effectiveness in managing both staff and international volunteers with tact and diplomacy with comprehensive experience of working in gender and health. Steven has particular vast experience in programme development through programme proposal development, monitoring and evaluation as well as report writing in addition to liaising with donors and overseeing the implementation of projects and programmes. In addition, he has experience in collaborating with government ministries and agencies through collaborative program related work or through sitting in technical working groups that require such collaboration. He holds a Master in Public Health degree. He is also qualified with a Bachelor of Arts Humanities conferred on him by the University of Malawi in 2009 and a Bachelor of Philosophy Degree awarded by the Pontifical Urbaniana University. Steven currently works as the Gender Equality Technical Adviser for Trocaire Malawi and has great experience in civil society engagement for both national and international NGOs, capacity building, gender and women’s rights as well as child rights programming. He manages the Women’s Empowerment programme as well as advise on gender integration in all programmes within the Trocaire Malawi country office. Steven also has experience of working on public health issues and how they intersect with gender. He worked on gender and HIV programming for seven years prior to his current role. He is also involved in capacity building of partners in the adherence to safeguarding and protection issues to ensure that programme participants especially women and children are protected from harm.
