Summary

Tim Muzira has over 20 years of experience in agricultural development project management including finance and value chains with a specialization in agribusiness development through managing donor-funded projects and various technical consulting assignments in Rwanda, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Throughout his carrier, Mr. Muzira has had significant exposure working with the private sector involved in agribusiness development. During that period, Mr. Muzira was exposed and engaged with various development partners including USAID, World Bank, IFC, EU (Palladium, ACDI/VOCA, IRG, Chemonics, TetraTech, CNFA just to name a few). Mr. Muzira has experience designing and managing large and complex projects. He has also participated in high-level discussions with private lending institutions as well as high-net-worth individuals interested to invest in Rwanda and Africa in general. Mr. Muzira was closely involved in the best and final offer negotiations for a very competitive proposal with CNFA - a US non-profit organization that eventually won the USAID/Rwanda Feed The Future Hinga Weze Activity - a $32.6M program aimed at improving livelihoods and nutrition status of households in Rwanda by expanding the availability of and use of nutritious foods and increasing the resilience of the agriculture and food systems to the changing climate. His role expanded from working as a consultant, technical writer as well as part of the startup team of the project. His private sector involvement in agribusiness spans to the establishment of the East Africa Exchange (EAX) in his role as the Value Chains Manager for East Africa Exchange, a regional commodity exchange that was created to link smallholder farmers to global markets, secure competitive prices for products, and facilitates access to financing opportunities. Currently, he has been involved with local and international investors involved in horticulture development, regenerative agriculture, near-nature farming practices, agricultural market systems, regional trade of commodities among others. Mr. Muzira is a native speaker of Kinyarwanda, fluent in English, French, Lingala, and Swahili; and some basic fluency in Luganda.
