Summary

Tim Shilston served for 30 years as a police officer in one of the largest forces in the UK up to the rank of Assistant Chief Constable. At senior level he served as an operational Area Commander and as head of 4 strategic specialist departments. In the final years of his service he specialised in International Police Development serving for lengthy spells as Senior Police Advisor in Afghanistan and in the occupied Palestinian Territories. Tim combines the experience and proven capabilities of a highly effective field practitioner with insights generated through his academic research interests. He has been employed as a lecturer in International Police Development by the City University of New York and by Northumbria University in the UK. He is the author of several original research articles published as peer reviewed contributions to academic journals and book chapters. Tim holds four University degrees including an MPhil in International Police Development awarded by Northumbria University in 2015.
