Summary

Mr. Tokha Manyungwa is a qualified chartered accountant since 2004. He was admitted as a member and fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) in 2005 and 2010 respectively. Mr Manyungwa is a founder and managing partner of a financial management consulting firm David Hastings Associates (DHA), a certified public accountant (Malawi), a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Master of Business Administration (MBA) with merit, postgraduate certificate in Teaching in Higher Education in the UK (PGCTHE) with distinction and fellow of the Higher Education of the United Kingdom (FHEA). Tokha has 15 years of practical experience in financial management in donor-funded projects such as CDC, World Bank, DFID, USAID and PEPFAR; accountancy consultancy and teaching; public and private sector financial management; and project management. He received his MBA (with merit) from Aberystwyth University in the United Kingdom in the year 2011 before joining the university as a teaching fellow in Accounting and Finance with a specialization in Auditing, Public Sector Accounting and Corporate Governance where he was admitted as a fellow of the Higher Education Academy of the United Kingdom has passed a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education in the United Kingdom (PGCTHE) with distinction. He later moved to Derby University as Senior Lecturer in accounting and finance until December 2014. He relocated back to Malawi in 2015 after the World Bank and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) through the Ministry of Health engaged him as a Financial Management Specialist/Consultant for the Malawi Nutrition and HIV/AIDS project. Mr Manyungwa also previously served as Director of Finance and Administration at the Malawi Anti-Corruption Bureau, Finance Director at the Lighthouse Trust, and Director of Finance and Administration (Malawi and Mozambique) at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (operating as Maryland Global Initiative Corporation in Malawi), Head of ACCA Malawi, Director of Technical and Membership Services at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Malawi (ICAM) and Head of Finance in the Ministry of Health Global Fund and Gavi Programme Implementation Unit. Mr Manyungwa is currently doing a part-time doctoral research with Durham University Business School on the Implementation of the International Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) in Developing Countries
