I am a Monitoring, Evaluation and Research Director at John Snow, Inc in the Strengthening Ethiopia’s Urban Health Program based in Ethiopia. I am a public health expert and demographer with about 15 years of professional experience as Program Manager, Researcher and Monitoring and Evaluation Expert, locally and internationally, on the areas of Sexuality and Reproductive Health including Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Adolescent and Young Peoples Reproductive Health, HIV/AID and Family Planning. I also worked as quality improvement team lead and led execution of several operational research and evaluation activities including program learning studies, situational assessments, baseline surveys, impact evaluations, mid-term evaluations, and organizational capacity assessments. I have been elemental in the development of the national research agenda prioritization as a member of the national Research Advisory Council for RMNCAH-N; I have proven track of record on development of study protocols for IRB approval, evaluation frameworks (results-based), performance monitoring plan (PMP), quantitative and qualitative data collection tools development, data management and analysis using advanced statistical software, data quality check, pre-testing and piloting of tools, training of data collectors, study team members and supervisors, field level supervision of data collection process, proved track of record on documentation including program and evaluation report writing, publication of research findings on peer-reviewed journals and presentation of papers on international forums; experience on leading multidisciplinary teams of programs, experience of working on PEPFAR and USAID-funded projects (including the current post); and experience of being part of senior or high level management committee and attending regular meetings and contributing towards decision-making. I am committed for professionalism and public health ethics. I have also established good partnership and working relationship with senior level government officials at MOH and EPHI; experience on working in collaboration with multiple partners including government, NGOs, UN agencies, Academia and CBOs. I have special interest in the knowledge management and documentation of evidences of innovative and evidence-based health practices, programs and policies to improve health care equity, quality, and outcomes in developing settings.
