Summary

Mr. Hamba Yusuf holds ten years of experience in conducting capacity building for M&E and research on public health interventions on HIV/AIDS, WASH, maternal and child health; Gender based violence and behavior change communication for youth. He has experience in capacity building and strengthening monitoring and evaluation systems for civil society organizations/CSO, government and private sector. He has conducted research and evaluation at both national and international levels. Mr. Hamba was a research and Evaluation officer who was charged with the responsibility of conducting research and reviews for both Local and international organizations in Uganda and abroad. He has extensive knowledge and experience in conducting applied research and developing monitoring and evaluation frame works to capture USAID/ PEPFAR indicators on health and data collection, analysis and impact modeling, with diplomatic and international experience in leadership and supervision. Mr. Hamba has also engaged with diverse communities and teams. He has organized, led and managed evaluations, coordinated research, learning workshops and dialogues with diverse stakeholders (Government of Uganda, Zambia, European Union, Civil Society and USAID) on highly sensitive national and international issues. Mr. Hamba served as the M&E advisor for Thandizani HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support program in Zambia and has led interdisciplinary teams of (over 15 people) to achieve institutional outcomes. Mr. Hamba has built capacity and strengthened monitoring and evaluation systems of several government departments in Zambia such as MOH/District medical teams/DHMT, the District Local councils, District HIV/AIDS task force/DATF and Ministry of social welfare.

Yusuf is conversant with conducting randomized controlled trials and using advanced statistical methods for both research and impact modeling and Yusuf has applied models such as Log linear modeling, discriminant analysis, and analysis of variance/ANOVA, survival analysis using Kaplan Meir product limit estimates, Cox regression and clinical life tables. Hamba also applied the Lotka models/ for demographic and fertility interventions as well as stochastic frontier/ Cobb Douglas models. For basic action research, Yusuf has used descriptive statistics to compute for averages and chi-square statistical methods for establishing the association between independent and dependent variable. Yusuf is also conversant with statistical methods for continuous dependent variables such as Multiple and simple linear regression and have also fitted Poison models for count data and has experience triangulating qualitative and quantitative findings.
