Zahra recently received her MD from Iran University of Medical Sciences, Tehran; and is a member of the Junior Doctors Network, World Medical Association and the American Public Health Association. She is currently pursuing her MPH degree in Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She is passionate about advocating for the rights of health workers, building more sustainable health system, social determinants of health and gender equity.
She completed an internship with the World Health Organization, in the Health Workforce Department and Global Health Workforce Alliance in 2016.
She is the past Regional Coordinator for the Eastern Mediterranean Region for 2014/15 at the International Federation of Medical Students' Associations, the biggest and oldest network of medical students worldwide. She is also one of the founders of Iranian Medical Students Association.
Her experience in working with student organisations in a leadership capacity on the national and international levels has given her the skills to lead teams and work within international teams.
She has conducted many peer capacity building workshops on topics ranging from global health issues to personal development, leadership and interpersonal skills within these organizations, and believes in the power of non formal education to transform organizations.
She has represented medical students of the Middle East and North Africa in many high level meetings, including the World Health Assembly 68, WHO Executive Board Meeting 137, WHO EMRO Regional Committee 61.
