The African Union is seeking funding from the World Bank and European Union to partly finance some USD20 billion needed annually for infrastructure initiatives in the region. "We cannot generate a fraction of that amount within the continent, and we have to depend on partners, who of course, cannot support us all the way through,"
quoted AU Commissioner for Economic Affairs Maxwell Mkwezalamba as saying.
