The U.S. Department of State is drafting a Haiti reconstruction plan to be presented to top officials of the Haitian government in the coming days, Miami Herald reports. The plan includes a proposal for the creation of a recovery commission that will take charge of Haiti’s early recovery over the next 18 months. The commission will also be tasked to help create a Haitian Development Authority that would eventually coordinate foreign aid to the country for at least 10 years. Former U.S. President Bill Clinton could have a central role in the planned commission, according to the Miami Herald.
