An epidemic deadlier than the Big 3

There’s a growing, much deadlier epidemic in the developing world, and the so-called vertical approach to prevention and treatment just won’t cut it, Jonathan Quick, president and CEO of Management Sciences for Health, tells Devex.

    By Rolf Rosenkranz // 02 October 2012

Over the past decade, the international community has had success cutting down deaths from AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria. That, however, has a downside, according to Jonathan Quick, president and CEO of Management Sciences for Health. Speaking to Devex during the Clinton Global Initiative, Quick says there’s a growing, much deadlier epidemic in the developing world, and the so-called vertical approach to prevention and treatment just won’t cut it.

Lars Schwetje contributed reporting from New York.
