Consultant Proposal Writers

SNV is a not-for-profit international development organisation, funded from public and private sources. SNV was founded in the Netherlands in 1965 and currently works in 38 countries world-wide. SNV is a specialized advisory services and knowledge-brokering organisation. We provide capacity development support to local and national organisations at the government, non-government and private sector levels.

INTERNATIONAL ASSIGNMENTS

SNV's advisory services focus on creating effective solutions with local impact in the sectors Agriculture, Water Sanitation & Hygiene and Renewable Energy/Climate Change. We work in partnership with a wide range of clients to impact poverty and build capacity worldwide. From bilateral donors such as USAID, AusAID and DFID, to philanthropic foundations and leading corporates, we help our clients achieve their development objectives and make a difference where it matters most.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

We are seeking CV’s of qualified proposal writers for expected new business opportunities in the areas of Agriculture, WASH and Renewable Energy.

The Proposal Writer will lead and/or support the writing of technical proposals in response to solicitations from various donors.

We require proposal writers with a proven track record and strong expertise, preferably gained from writing winning bids and proposals for international donors as well as foundations. The Proposal Writer will work closely with in-country SNV staff to produce competitive proposals.
Key qualifications include:

• Proven experience writing winning proposals for projects funded by at least two of the following organisations - European Commission, DFID, USAID, AusAid, AFD, AfDB, ADB and The World Bank;
• A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field. Master’s degree preferred;
• At least 5 years of proposal writing experience, particularly in the development field in any of SNV’s key sectors: Agriculture, WASH, Renewable Energy;
• Knowledge of donor-specific procurement processes;
• Technical and writing experience on subjects related to Agriculture, Water Sanitation and Hygiene, Renewable Energy, REDD+, Climate Change Adaptation, and/or other poverty alleviation programme topics, would be a significant advantage;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, mastery of French is a plus;
• A Strong communicator and team player, culturally aware and able to work in an international setting;
• Ability to work with tight deadlines and in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong organizational and time management ability and a conscientious approach to deadlines;
• Ability to write clearly and concisely, to structure arguments in a logical fashion and to balance technical rigor with simple explanations;
