Looking to start a career in international development? Internships provide a great opportunity to gather valuable skills and connections.
In Washington, the U.S. Agency for International Development is a top choice among students interested in international affairs. The agency offers two types of internship - summer internships and the more frequent, year-round volunteer internships - and is planning to expand internship opportunities in the field, as well.
But, who’s really eligible, and how can you make your application stand? Two USAID recruiters provide answers: Creighton Lee Jr., outreach and marketing coordinator in USAID’s Office of Human Resources, speaks first, followed by Richard Byess, senior program advisor at the agency’s Office of Military Affairs. The two participated as featured guest speakers in the Devex Career Webinar Series.
This video is an excerpt from our 1-hour webinar “Ask the Recruiter: Jobs with USAID,” recorded March 23. In this fourth edition of the popular Devex Career Webinar Series, Lee and Byess discuss USAID hiring priorities, what makes an ideal job candidate, how to transition from the private sector, and many other burning questions posed directly by job seekers.
