Title: Bid Manager
Reports to: Partnership Director
Type: Full-time, long-term consulting assignment
Level: Mid
Based in: Time zones GMT 0 to +5:30, preferably South-East Asia (India) or Sub-Saharan Africa (Kenya). Work itself is mainly remote.
Travel: 10–20% international

We are looking for an experienced Bid Manager with previous experience from the international development and health sector to help identify, manage, write, and win contracts from philanthropic, organisational, government, and private sectors. Areas of responsibility will include:

Preparing and submitting proposals and budgets in cooperation with internal teams as well as Scope’s community of partners:

  • Coordinate the bidding process, drafting and writing proposals.
  • Compile company project and team experience documents, capability statements.
  • Develop project concepts and new products, drafting a range of sales proposals and concept notes.
  • Design budgets and costing structures with the team.
  • Handle timely submission of applications and follow up on pitches, submissions.
  • Monitor and manage the proposals through the pipeline and ensure a proper handover to the project teams for execution or collect valuable insights from lost opportunities.

Developing and managing our business development knowledge management and tools:

  • Streamline and improve current processes and activities around pipeline management, revenue forecasting, and handover from sales to operations.
  • Organise a repository of templated responses, service modules for written proposals, case studies, methodology briefs, and budget calculations. Develop high-end templates for visual pitches and proposal components.
  • Set up and maintain a database of partners and suppliers.

Tracking and responding to funding opportunities and tenders from a range of donors and potential clients:

  • Track and analyse the health, equality, and climate sector trends, shifts, and stakeholder strategies, bringing this knowledge into sales and project design and planning.
  • Enhance and manage internal systems to track and scope opportunities and communicate to teams allowing them to plan for the pipeline.
  • Liaise with stakeholders in designing and creating new opportunities for social impact, developing them into funded programmes together with the Scope teams.
  • Create and foster relationships with clients, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Actively contribute to the learning and skills development of the wider Scope team when it comes to client management and new business development.

In addition, this position shall have additional related tasks from time to time, directed by Scope.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a relevant field, such as Social Sciences, Development, Public Health, Marketing, Finance, Economics, International Relations, or Communications.
  • Minimum of 5 years professional experience, including new business process coordination, comprehensive proposal writing as well as planning, budget development, and collaboration in an international environment.
  • Proven experience and track record in developing and securing new grants and contracts, preferably including complex, multi-year programmes within the International Development and Health sectors.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including proposal, concept note, report, and strategy writing experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Highly organised and results-oriented.
  • Cultural understanding and sensitivity, highly adept at working in a multicultural environment.
  • Resilience and ability to manage well under pressure. You enjoy and thrive in a highly energetic, dynamic team.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
  • Proficient IT skills, including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Development and public health sector knowledge.
  • Experience with innovation and social mobilisation, is an advantage.
