Job Description

The Kenan Institute Asia (Kenan), a leading not-for-profit development organization headquartered in Bangkok, Thailand (see www.kenan-asia.org) and conducting economic and social development activities in Southeast Asia, is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Business Development Manager to support our expanding regional operations.

The Business Development Manager is based in Bangkok and supports the Director of Marketing and Project Development in communicating overall Kenan messaging and in securing project funding from bilateral and multilateral funders, especially for projects in Vietnam. The position requires extensive travel in the region.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, able to work with limited oversight in a multicultural environment. He/she will have a passion for development with a strong desire to succeed in business development. The ability to multi-task, meet client demands and deadlines, as well as prioritize among competing priorities are also essential skills for the successful candidate. This is a rare opportunity for a mid-level career professional to be based in Thailand.

Chief Responsibilities:

  • Conducting business and project development, including seeking and developing funding opportunities.

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders including donors, government agencies and beneficiaries.

  • Implementing key project components on regional projects.

  • Ensuring timely technical and financial reporting from regional projects.

  • Contributing to the regional strategy and development of the organization.

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least eight years of professional work experience in international development, business consultancy or a similar field (six if the candidate has an advanced degree).

  • Degree in marketing, business administration, economics, international development, communications or a related field in development; advanced degree preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience developing project proposals or project designs for international development projects, especially for USAID or UN entities.

  • Excellent English communication skills (writing, presentation, editing etc.)

  • Native level English skills required.

  • Experience studying in, working in, or traveling to Southeast Asia is a plus.

Compensation: A base salary (based on experience) plus commission and a housing allowance.
