UNOPS South East Asia Multi-Country Office (EAPMCO)


The South East Asia and Pacific Multi Country Office (EAPMCO) supports, develops andoversees the UNOPS portfolio of projects in South East Asia and the Pacific. EAPMCO wasestablished in January 2023 following the merger of the Thailand Multi-Country Office, whichcovered 20 countries across North East Asia, South East Asia and the Pacific, and theCambodia Multi-Country Office, which covered 4 countries South East Asia - 3 countries inthe Mekong Sub-region (Cambodia, Lao PDR and Vietnam) and the Philippines. EAPMCOcurrently covers 24 countries across North East Asia, South East Asia and the Pacific. Withits head office in Bangkok, the Multi-Country Office comprises nine business units: EAPMCOThailand, EAPMCO Indonesia, EAPMCO Pacific Operations Cluster, EAPMCO Papua NewGuinea, EAPMCO China, EAPMCO Mekong, and EAPMCO Philippines.In 2024, the UNOPS EAPMCO implemented projects worth more than USD 80 million, in theareas of Energy Transition, Digital Transformations, Sustainable Environmental Management,Climate Change, Waste Management, Rule of Law and Access to Justice, Water, Sanitationand Hygiene (WASH), Post Conflict Reintegration, Emergency Relief, Post COVID19Economic Transformations, and Health, through HR, procurement, construction, contractmanagement, fund and program management services.The Multi Country Office head office in Bangkok provides strategic direction, operationalsupport, delivery oversight and assurance of the excellence of business processes andMar2019quality standards across all of the entire Multi Country Office locations. It is also responsiblefor developing, delivering and managing the portfolio of engagements in the country of theMCO location itself.

Background information - Job Specific

EAPMCO Thailand is a UNOPS business unit under the South East Asia and Pacic Region. Itwas established to better support, develop and oversee the UNOPS portfolio of projects inSouth East Asia and the Pacific.The Human Resources Services Team (HRST), was established in 2011 in Bangkok,Thailand and it delivers HR transactional services on behalf of UNOPS’s to major UN clients.Through this service provision stream, HRST enhances the operational capacity of UNOPS toserve partners with large-scale and high volume HR services through need-driven corporatelevel project services. In support of, and to best serve client’s needs, HRST has developedand utilizes standardized and unified systems and processes born of extensive experiencethat ensures the highest quality of services and cost-effectiveness for partners.Supplemental to the above HRST also services partners’ on whose behalf it undertakescomplete Project Implementation with in-house expertise spanning the whole of the ProjectManagement Lifecycle (LEAD Generation, Costing and Budget Preparation, UNOPS internalsystems management, through to Project Closure). With its extensive experience base inProject Management related services, including but not limited to Administration, Financialand Portfolio Management, Partner (client) Engagement and Management, Procurement aswell as HR Transactional Services HRST has a strong base upon which to lay the foundationforincreasing its overall business acquisition.

Education/Experience/Language requirements


Education:
  • Minimum first-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) in International Affairs, Social Sciences, Human Resources, Business Administration, Project management, Engineering Background or other relevant field is required.
  • Must be enrolled in a university programme such as Bachelor’s or Master’s or Ph.D. (or the equivalent) or have graduated from such studies within three (3) years prior to the application date of the internship.
Experience:
  • Some professional experience in the field of international development, project management, administration, engineering or any other relevant field is desirable.
  • Prior project management certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience in research, analysis, and report writing related to energy transition or the broader climate change topics in the Philippines or wider Southeast Asia is highly desirable.
  • Strong computer literacy in Google suite applications or equivalent MS Office standard programs, in particular proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel is required.
  • Experience in Google Data Studio is desirable but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and attention to details. Must be tactful, discreet, diplomatic and possess the ability to communicate with individuals at all levels of an organization.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work under pressure and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work in an international/ multicultural environment.
Language:
  • Fluency in written and oral English required.
  • Knowledge of another official UNOPS language is an asset
