Business Development Support Intern
Location: Courthouse, VA (on-site, 3 days per week, flexible scheduling)
Duration: Unpaid internship, eligible for academic credit

Internship Overview
We are seeking a Business Development Support Intern to provide day-to-day administrative and coordination support to senior advisors and assist with internal documentation and business development materials. This internship offers hands-on exposure to executive support, document review, and internal processes that underpin client engagement and business development in an international consulting environment.
The primary focus of this internship is training and professional development. The intern will gain practical experience in administrative support, professional writing and editing, and organizational workflows within a globally oriented, mission-driven organization.
Supervision
The intern will report to multiple DevTech staff members, including the Operations Specialist, an Economist, and the Communications Associate. These mentors will provide day-to-day guidance, training, and evaluations to support academic credit.
Learning Objectives
Interns will gain practical skills in:
- Executive and administrative support
- Professional writing, copy-editing, and document review
- Managing priorities, schedules, and client engagements alongside senior advisors
- Business development and client support workflows
- Observing consulting operations in an international development context
Key Responsibilities
Under close supervision, interns may assist with:
- Supporting senior advisors with daily planning and administrative coordination, including scheduling, meeting preparation, calendar management, and follow-up tracking
- Copy-editing and proofreading internal documents such as proposals, reports, briefing notes, and communications
- Preparing, formatting, and organizing materials for client meetings and business development activities
- Supporting business development tasks, including maintaining trackers, compiling background information, and organizing proposal materials
- Attending meetings as a learning participant, taking notes, and assisting with follow-up tasks
- Performing additional administrative and coordination tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program (preferred fields: Business Administration, International Relations, Economics, Public Administration, or related disciplines)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Clear written communication and document copy-editing abilities
- Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Canva, and AI tools
- Interest in international development, consulting, or professional services
- Reliable, proactive, and comfortable supporting multiple stakeholders
