Activity Background
The USAID Responsible Investment and Trade Activity is a five-year (2020 – 2025) activity that will work with a broad range of international and domestic private sector firms and civil society actors to promote civilian ownership of the Myanmar economy by increasing the share held by responsible, accountable, and transparent firms. Through the Activity, USAID will increase trade and private sector investment. To attract and sustain investment and trade, the Activity is supporting firms operating in or entering the market in Myanmar to improve corporate governance, business transparency, and competitiveness.
Description:
DAI seeks Corporate Governance Consultants with strong track records in SME corporate governance to support its USAID Responsible Investment and Trade Activity (the Activity) in Myanmar. The Activity aims to promote private sector civilian ownership of the Myanmar economy by increasing the share held by responsible, accountable, and transparent firms. It engages international and domestic private sector firms and civil society actors across multiple sectors to facilitate investment, trade, and business partnerships, and to strengthen regional economic integration, and improve business accountability, transparency, and competitiveness in Myanmar.
The Consultants will assist in improving domestic corporate governance, business transparency, and competitiveness of small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs) in Myanmar. Businesses need to build their capacity to improve corporate governance appropriate for their stage in growth:
The Activity aims to strengthen the business ecosystem’s capacity in Myanmar to deliver higher-quality support services needed to improve domestic corporate governance, business transparency, and competitiveness at scale, with a focus on capacity building and transitioning to more sustainable business models.
Currently, the Activity is developing a training course in SME corporate governance that covers a wide spectrum of SME corporate governance topics, which includes decision making and oversight, processes and structures, SME strategic planning and risk management, transparency and disclosure, business ethics, and other topics. The Consultants may be contracted to perform a variety of tasks related to the Activity’s SME corporate governance training that further leverage on the Activity’s course content and responds to stakeholders’ needs, which may include but not limited to the following tasks:

Work could be long or short term. The workstation is remote and travels to Yangon on a case-by-case basis and as agreed.
