Job Description

The position of Impact Officer reports directly to the COO and is responsible for ensuring that programs align with Papyrus’ values of Consultation, Humility, Optimism, Trustworthiness and Impact to deliver on the firm’s objectives. The Impact Officer is a member of the Senior Leadership Team and is held to the highest standards of shared responsibility, setting the corporate tone, ensuring accountability, representing Papyrus Home Office and project teams, and actively embracing and living up to Papyrus’s principles and values.

This position is full-time and ideally based in Haiti. Papyrus will consider a hybrid remote model, but the Impact Officer will be expected to travel regularly to Haiti and to other countries in Africa where Papyrus is active.

Responsibilities Portfolio Oversight
  • Lead, Manage and Hold Accountable a team of Senior Project Managers that run the firm’s prime and sub portfolio of projects in Haiti and in Africa. Play the role of acting Project Manager where required.
  • Uphold and ensure the highest level of adherence to Papyrus’ core values and foundational principles by all members of program teams.
  • Oversee and manage systems for portfolio oversight and monitoring of project activities, outputs and progress towards goals.
  • Manage portfolio quality and impact and ensure a one-team approach to programming and cross-cutting impact themes. Ensure all program Managers are on track to meeting their goals and delivering consistent, high-quality services and products, and have identified objectives that are tracked and ready for reporting.
  • Develop and lead risk mitigation strategies to include reputational, safety, programmatic and implementation concerns.
  • Develop portfolio-wide systems for knowledge management and workflow purposes and ensure all direct reports are trained and onboard in their use and implementation.
  • Update and implement systems for field oversight, implement and report.
  • Design program financial management dashboards and ensure timely budget revisions, forecasting, reporting and monitoring in close collaboration with the COO for use as monitoring and decision-making tools for the CEO and Senior Leadership team.
  • Ensure that Papyrus is following donor/client rules & regulations, with respect to all program activities. Ensure programmatic best practices are effectively captured in products and systems that ensure organizational sustainability and growth.
  • Work closely with Chiefs of Party and Program Managers to prepare and submit annual program budgets, monitor effective programming within budget, and report accurately on progress and challenges.

Growth/Strategy

  • Input to strategic planning as a member of the Senior Leadership Team to design and implement strategies and procedures for scaling impact and growing the portfolio of projects and programs.
  • Be aware of synergies and create/capture and, working closely with the CEO and Growth Officer, develop new business opportunities from the interactions among existing projects, programs, and activities.
