Job Description

Resonance is seeking a Circular Economy Consultant to work across our technical and sector teams to develop a 24-month strategy for growing Resonance’s Circular Economy (CE) business across donors (primarily United States Agency for International Development-USAID) and other client bases. The consultant will provide technical expertise and insight in other CE domains to complement Resonance’s existing CE expertise in food systems, most notably plastics pollution/recycling and solid waste management.

The consultant is anticipated to provide technical thought leadership input on Resonance proposals, other business development materials, and client engagements on an on-demand basis.

This consultancy will be demand-driven with an anticipated timeframe of February to December 2022 and a total ceiling of 75 days, with an opportunity for an extension-based need. An initial 20 days are allocated to develop a 24-month strategy, with additional days, functions, and deliverables added as specific proposals, and technical assignments are identified.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS

Strategy Development

  • Develop a 24-month strategy for Resonance’s engagement in circular economy activities within the global development context, including articulation of unique models, staffing needs and approaches that leverage Resonance’s strengths and are tailored to client needs.
  • Draft 1-2 blogposts/thought leadership pieces to support marketing the new strategy.
  • Provide technical input and feedback on capability statements and a pitch deck

Proposal Support and Technical Delivery

  • Contribute as a technical contributor/writer and reviewer on USAID, corporate and foundation client proposals, pitch decks, and other business development resources in circular economy.
  • Work with technical and sector teams to identify and evaluate new circular economy project opportunities with donor, commercial, non-profit, and philanthropic clients.
  • Identify potential strategic partners that complement Resonance’s strengthens to support proposal development.
  • Serve as a technical expert for Resonance’s circular economy client projects and engagements with donor, industry, non-profit, and foundations.

DELIVERABLES

Strategy Development

1. Circular Economy Strategy Presentation and Supporting Materials. The strategy will include market analysis, competitive positioning, differentiation, staffing and budget requirements. The consultant will present the strategy to the Extended Leadership Team for review and approval.

2. Technical inputs on a Resonance CE capabilities statements and pitch deck.

3. Deliver two 1-hour training session on CE and the Resonance CE strategy for staff.

4. 1-2 blogposts or similar thought leadership pieces (total 1500 words)

5. Weekly progress updates

Additional deliverables will be added for specific proposals and technical expert roles as they are identified.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

  • Eight (8) years of experience in either corporate sustainability or international development.
  • Three (3) years of experience working on circular economy projects or initiatives, preferably in plastics or electronics.
  • Experience leading at least three assignments in the following areas: strategy development, program design, and the development of unique approaches and models
  • Demonstrated familiarity with managment consulting or international development and/or business development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in international relations, public administration, business administration, economic growth, natural resources management, enviromental studies, or another relevant field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
