Duties and Responsibilities

Background

  • The International Trade Centre (ITC) is the joint cooperation agency of the WTO and the UN for trade-related technical assistance.
  • ITC assists developing countries to enhance international competitiveness, seize market opportunities, and increase exports.
  • The Trade and Market Intelligence (TMI) section develops online tools for strategic and operational market research, analyzing products, markets, and trade performance.
  • Trade Map (TM) is ITC’s flagship tool providing trade statistics and market analysis.
  • TMI is revamping TM to improve the user experience with a modern interface, enhanced features, and updated guidance materials.
  • The intern will support communications, user engagement, promotional content creation, and launch event preparation for the new TM beta.

Responsibilities

Support Communications and Promotion

  • Support the development and implementation of the communications and promotional plan for the new TM beta launch
  • Create promotional materials (visuals, brochures, infographics) aligned with the new interface, including content for social media channels
  • Produce launch-related videos, including promotional clips, updated user guides, and guided tour demonstrations
  • Support preparation and organization of the TM beta launch event

Support User Engagement and Feedback

  • Update user guides, help pages, and tutorial videos to reflect the new platform features
  • Assist in conducting and compiling results of user testing, collecting feedback, documenting findings, and suggesting improvements
  • Assist in user communication for the beta launch, respond to queries, and ensure timely follow-up

Qualifications/Special Skills

Education

  • At the time of application, applicants must meet one of the following:
    • Enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent)
    • Enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or higher)
    • Graduated with a university degree and must commence the internship within one year of graduation
  • Relevant fields: international trade, economics, business, marketing, communications, or similar

Competencies and Experience

  • Understanding of international trade and data; experience using Trade Map or similar tools is an asset
  • Skills in creating multimedia content, including videos and promotional materials for social media
  • Experience in communications and/or marketing, preferably for digital platforms
  • Experience in gathering and analyzing user feedback and translating it into actionable recommendations is desirable
  • Experience organizing or supporting events, including virtual events, is an asset

Languages

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is required
  • Strong communication, writing, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multicultural environment
  • Creativity and attention to detail in producing communication materials

  • Acquire hands-on experience in preparing and launching a major trade analysis tool
  • Strengthen skills in communications, marketing, user engagement, and multimedia content creation

  • Costs for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or sponsoring institutions
  • Non-citizens or non-permanent residents may require a visa and work/employment authorization
