Tetra Tech was awarded the USAID Sustainable Energy for Indonesia’s Advancing Resilience (SINAR) project from January 2021 to January 2026. SINAR seeks to advance Indonesia’s development goals in expanding reliable and equitable energy services necessary for sustainable development and inclusive economic growth. To achieve this goal, SINAR will focus on the following areas: 1) Accelerating deployment of advanced energy technologies, 2) Improving performance of energy utilities, 3) Applying procurement best practices, and 4) Establishing an institutional framework and capacity for energy sector transformation.

By achieving this goal, USAID will contribute to Indonesia’s Sustainable Development Goals and 2020-2024 National Medium Term Development Plan.

Position summary & job purpose:

We are recruiting for experienced mid-level professional with excellent writing and communication skills to support SINAR’s communications activities. This position will develop activity summaries and success stories from various project activities, create video event documentation, curate photographs and develop captions, manage an annual editorial plan for social media channels, and contribute to media relations activities. This position liaises with the Strategic Programs Director, coordinates with the Monitoring and Evaluation Manager, other technical staff, component leads, and selected project stakeholders, and reports directly to the Communications and Reporting Manager. Position responsibilities:

  • Project publications:
    • Copywrite summary of project activities.
    • Curate and develop success stories from project activities.
    • Manage project publications databank.
    • Adhere to USAID standards in writing and editing as seen in https://usaidindonesia.exposure.co/, https://www.usaid.gov/indonesia/stories, https://stories.usaid.gov/
    • Apply principles of basic journalism in developing stories, which includes verification and fact checking.
  • Content management:
    • Contribute to development of an annual editorial plan for USAID SINAR’s website, newsletter, social media channels such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
    • Curate and develop creative content from project activities to maintain USAID SINAR’s digital presence. Creative content includes short videos, project photographs, video clips, infographics (including charts and graphs), captions and quotes.
    • Adhere to USAID’s marking requirements for acquisition awards: Graphic Standards Manual and ADS 320.
  • Project event:
    • Provide communications support to project events.
  • Social media and media relations:
    • Monitor simple social media metrics.
    • Support media relations activities.
    • Maintain media contacts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with five years of experience in writing and copywriting in English and Indonesian.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and Indonesian.
  • Ability to deliver technical content in an engaging manner for wider audience.
  • Ability to work independently and follow deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Indonesian national or current resident of Indonesia
  • Experience in working with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Ministry of Finance (MoF), National Energy Council (DEN), provincial governments, and other related stakeholders in Indonesia’s energy sector.
  • Familiarity with USAID procedures and practices for quality control, including monitoring.
  • Possess interest in development sector, especially in renewable energy, energy policy, sustainable finance, utility, investment.
  • Exposure to government liaison and newsroom experience.
  • Willingness to go the extra miles.
  • Performs well under pressure.
  • Client-oriented, team player, positive attitude, and adhere to professional ethics.

Line management responsibility:

  • This position will report to Director of Strategic Programs

Physical demands & work environment:

  • Office setting, domestic travel
