Responsibilities

Position Description

RTI seeks a Curriculum Development Officer / Deputy Team Leader (National Expert) for the ADB-funded Solomon Islands: Senior Secondary Education Improvement Project.

Position is contingent upon award and funding.

Your primary responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Support the Team Leader in coordinating Workstream 4 activities
  • Lead the development and review of curriculum package
  • Ensure curriculum alignment with national education standards
  • Supervise local curriculum development team members
    • Coordinate with schools and education stakeholders for curriculum piloting
    • Oversee the development of teachers’ guidelines
    • Monitor implementation progress and quality
    • Provide technical support to curriculum writers and reviewers
  • Conduct training workshops for teachers and curriculum officers
  • Develop training materials and resources
  • Mentor local curriculum development staff
  • Support knowledge transfer initiatives
    • Liaise with MEHRD officials
    • Coordinate with other workstream teams
    • Engage with school leaders and teachers
    • Facilitate community consultations on curriculum matters
    • Prepare regular progress reports
    • Document curriculum development processes
    • Contribute to project monitoring and evaluation
    • Maintain records of curriculum development activities

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Curriculum Development, or related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in curriculum development or educational leadership roles in Solomon Islands
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing educational programs in the Solomon Islands context
  • Strong knowledge of Solomon Islands education system and curriculum frameworks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proven leadership and team management capabilities
  • Experience in capacity building and professional development
