Job Description

Main purpose of job:
Provide administrative support to (a) Commercial Officer(s) at the Department for International Trade (DIT) office in Colombia, including (but not limited to) business development, research and analysis of data within a designated sector; and strategic and logistical support.

Note! We have three (3) available start dates: 1 December 2022, 1 January 2023, and 1 February 2023 (x2).

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Research: help in the formulation of market studies for British companies and the online management of customers. Maintenance of the team’s project database, and assistance in the identification of new contractual opportunities for British businesses.
  • Event coordination: support to the organisation of official events and visits, including the preparation of agendas, arrangement of meetings and all related logistic activities.
  • Relations with stakeholders: develop and maintain contact with local (private and public) stakeholders, keeping record of all activities in the team’s databases.
  • Provide cross-cutting support to the DIT team (and other Embassy sections if needed) as required and perform other tasks as requested by the Commercial Officers, the Director and Deputy Director of DIT.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience

Essential on arrival:

  • Must be currently enrolled in undergraduate studies in International Business, Marketing, Finance, International Relations, Business Management, Economics, Industrial Engineering or similar degrees in a Colombian university. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be considered;
  • Availability of at least 6 months before their graduation date, in order to complete the internship. Applicants who do not meet this requirement will not be considered;
  • Availability to start their internship in the proposed date (We are currently recruiting several interns at the Department for International Trade. One successful applicant will start on November 2022, one successful applicant will start on January 2023, and two successful applicants will start on February 2023);
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English); and
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office.

  • Experience in project delivery; and
  • Experience working in teams.
