Work on one or more of OIOS-IED’s ongoing inspection and evaluation projects, including:
The Inspection of the United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA)
The Evaluation of Women’s Participation in Uniformed Components of the United Nations Peacekeeping Missions
Thematic Evaluation of United Nations Police (UNPOL) in Peacekeeping Missions
The Evaluation of Regional and Multilateral Partnerships for Peacekeeping
Assist in data collection, analysis, and other assigned tasks.
Support evaluation team on background research and summarizing data.
Collect, organize, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, including:
Taking notes of stakeholder interviews and meeting minutes
Obtaining, screening, and organizing documents and internal data from UN Secretariat entities
Programming and testing online surveys
Conducting statistical or geospatial analyses
Developing and testing databases and dashboards, including data cleaning and coding
Visualizing data using MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI
Performing other related tasks as required
Assist in ad-hoc activities, including reviewing and editing evaluation products.

Qualifications/Special Skills
Enrolled in or completed a graduate school program or final year of a bachelor’s degree (minimum) or higher.
Registered for or completed studies in political science, economics, international affairs, security studies, public administration, gender studies, statistics, data science, human rights, program evaluation, or related fields.
Computer literate; familiarity with data analysis software/tools such as Power BI, NVivo, R, SAS, SPSS, Stata, Python, ArcGIS/QGIS, and ethical AI use.
Skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis using large unstructured data are highly desirable.
Keen interest in the work of the United Nations and commitment to its Charter.
Ability to interact successfully with individuals of diverse cultural backgrounds.
Languages
Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
Knowledge of French is highly desired.
Additional Information
Internship starts September/October 2025 for a minimum of 3 months, extendable to 6 months based on performance and need.
Full-time internship; can be remote or in-person in Entebbe, Uganda.
