Position Description:
We are looking for a Digital Communications Intern who has a passion for international development with communications experience. The Digital Communications Intern will report to the Communications and Events Manager, and will be an integral part of the Communications team, working on website and social media content development for a quickly growing international development consulting firm.
The intern will assist with projects related to IDG’s website redesign, including drafting content for the site, uploading new content, and creating graphics. The Digital Communications Intern will also create written and visual content for IDG’s social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Writing will be an integral part of this position; please include at least two writing samples in your application.
The intern will join a growing company and will be part of the Corporate Services team. This is a paid, part-time position which will require approximately 20 hours per week. The IDG office is currently operating on a remote schedule and once the office opens for business, the candidate will be expected to report to the office location.
Key Responsibilities:
· Write website content and blog post updates for a variety of international development topics, ranging from economic governance to food security.
· Ability and/or willingness to work with various software to create graphics using graphic design software, such as Adobe editing products (Illustrator, InDesign, or Photoshop), Canva, or Tableau.
· Upload content to website using WordPress.
· Draft social media content, both visual and written.
· Research current events in international development and economic development to connect IDG’s work to timely and/or trending topics on social media.
· Support an online communications and events platform as needed.
Qualifications:
Please include at least two writing samples in the application, as well as at least one example of a graphic design product that the candidate produced.
