EnCompass LLC is seeking to fill a Digital Learning Specialist II role with someone who is experienced in leading e-learning and multimedia projects and producing creative designs on topics for diverse audiences. As a member of the Digital Learning Hub, this person will support the Learning and Leadership Development (L&LD) team in the design, development, and maintenance of digital learning solutions including e-learning courses, podcasts, videos, and other digital learning solutions for topics in the international development arena.

The Digital Learning Specialist II works with subject-matter experts (SMEs), instructional designers, e-learning programmers, multimedia developers, graphic designers, voice talent, and project coordinators to lead, design, develop, and evaluate professional-standard interactive learning solutions using a range of authoring tools. This individual will produce creative designs that are grounded in adult and multimedia learning principles and leverage the power of interactive elements, storytelling, and gamification for learning. The Digital Learning Specialist II will lead full-length and micro e-learning projects, from facilitating the project kickoff meeting with clients to publishing and testing the final course on a Learning Management System (LMS). The person in this role should have strong written and oral communication skills, ability to manage their time effectively, be highly organized, and be able to work independently.

This is a full-time position located at the EnCompass principal office in Silver Spring, Maryland, and follows the EnCompass flexible hybrid work model with split time between telework and the office. Remote applicants will be considered, but only if candidate resides in a state where EnCompass is currently registered.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

Essential functions:

Technical

  • Work with SMEs on complex topics to gather content, define learning objectives, identify appropriate learning methodologies and delivery methods, and map out course content and activities
  • Write design documents, macro-designs (course outlines), micro-designs (storyboards), and scripts in collaboration with project teams, clients, SMEs, consultants, and others
  • Develop e-learning courses, podcasts, videos, and other digital learning solutions
  • Seek feedback on the design and development of project deliverables from internal team, subject matter experts, potential users, and others and revise accordingly to meet expectations and quality standards
  • Create dynamic, customized, experiential e-learning courses and multimedia learning content including infographics, videos, audio voiceover, interactive simulation, and animations
  • Conduct learning assessments, including research, document reviews, telephone interviews, and focus groups
  • Partner with internal teams to develop integrated e-Learning and blended programs, fostering a culture of embracing innovative digital learning solutions
  • Contribute expertise and innovative approaches; bring leading-edge thinking, methodologies and approaches to instructional technology

Management

  • Manage projects from design to implementation with minimal supervision, including managing scope, budget, timeline, and quality assurance for assigned activities
  • Manage vendors or consultants, ensuring they remain on budget and on time in delivering expected materials
  • Effectively communicate project deliverables to clients, team members, and other stakeholders in a clear and concise manner
  • Serve as a resource to Business Development teams by contributing to proposal development processes to include level of effort estimates and suggested technical approaches
  • May supervise and/or mentor staff

Administration

  • Regularly track and update progress on project work in project management tools
  • Maintain the Learning and Leadership Development and Digital Learning Hub SharePoint pages and EnCompass internal learning assets on Stream as needed
  • Maintain Learning Management Systems as needed

General

  • Engage fully as a member of the EnCompass team, including participating in staff meetings and other EnCompass events
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements

Qualifications

Academic Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 11 years of professional experience; Associate’s degree and 9 years; Bachelor’s and 7 years; Master’s and 5 years; Degree in education, curriculum design, organizational development, communication, instructional design, or related fields.

Experience and Skills

  • Strong experience specifically in e-learning design and development and multimedia production based on experiential, adult-centered learning, and using blended learning and innovative technologies
  • Skilled in designing and developing specifically for digital learning solutions in a variety of formats and passion for creating e-learning and multimedia
  • Strong proficiency in e-learning authoring tools and multimedia development software, such as Articulate Storyline and Rise, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, Premiere Pro or other video editing software, Vyond, and Audacity
  • Experience using motion graphics animation software desirable (e.g., Adobe After Effects)
  • Ability to apply graphic design principles to visually enhance project deliverables
  • Experience designing and developing e-learning for 508 compliance
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design best practices and ability to apply them to project work
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with consultants, staff, SMEs, and teams to define learning needs and expectations and to communicate results
  • Commitment to and experience integrating diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility into daily work
  • Ability to work in an appreciative and collaborative environment
  • Curiosity and eagerness to self-learn and pick up on new tech tools?
  • Adeptness at identifying and framing problems, setting priorities, and making critical assessments

  • Experience designing for audiences in the international development field, or working sensitively in multi-cultural environments to build effective working relations with clients and colleagues preferable

  • Adobe Creative Cloud: Premier Pro, Illustrator, Photoshop, and/or After Effects
  • Animated video tool: Vyond
  • Audio editing: Audacity, Adobe Audition, and/or Logic Pro X
  • Web conference platforms: Adobe Connect, WebEx, Goole Meet, and/or Zoom
  • MS Office 365, Google Suites, SharePoint, and Teams

Estimated Pay Range for this Position

The pay range for this role allows for the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. At EnCompass, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current pay range is $79,759 - $95,148
