Job Description

As an editorial strategist on the Devex Special Coverage team, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving progress on the SDGs by developing and executing impactful events, content series, sponsored content, and social media campaigns for Devex partners. Working directly with clients, you’ll leverage your editorial expertise and project management skills to shape compelling content, manage project lifecycles, and ensure seamless event execution.

Editorial Development & Content Strategy (75%):

  • Collaborate with Devex partners to shape the editorial vision of events, content series, sponsored content, and social media campaigns, focusing on relevant topics and voices that resonate with the Devex audience.
  • Identify interviewees, topics, and key themes that drive headlines and newsmaking agendas.
  • Work closely with partners and freelancers to author, edit, and deliver compelling sponsored content (Q&A’s, feature articles, visual stories, takeaway articles, podcast articles, op-eds, and other editorial content as needed) that engages the Devex audience while aligning with partners’ editorial goals and priorities.
  • Serve as an editorial strategist for ongoing thematic content series, keeping a pulse on global observances and key moments related to content series and news developments, and liaise with the Devex news room and partners to ensure the content series are relevant and agenda-setting.
  • Have a keen eye for visual storytelling to capture and identify images, as well as video sound-bites, that support the written content and can be leveraged across multi-media platforms.
  • Draft engaging social media content for the marketing team to promote events, campaigns, and Devex content across various platforms; and liaise with the social media and advertising teams to support amplification of content.
  • Leverage tools like Gemini to develop all of the above and actively seek new AI and tech tools to streamline these processes.
  • Ensure all editorial content, including post-event deliverables like articles, videos, social media clips, Q&As, and sponsored content pieces, reflects the high standards of Devex and effectively communicates key messaging.

Project Management & Client Interface (20%):

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, managing all aspects of content series, sponsored content, and social media campaign deliverables, ensuring projects are executed on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with internal teams (marketing, production, design) to ensure cohesive project execution and alignment with partnership goals.
  • Conduct kick-off and regular check-in calls with partners to move content from conception to publication.
  • Oversee editorial, production, and social media content creation schedules and deadlines, adjusting as necessary to meet project timelines and client expectations. Rely on marketing and production teams to execute within your timelines and communicate with them when changes are needed.
  • Update deliverable and recognized revenue tracking in Monday.com, Slack, and other project management tools; inform project management best practices.
  • Inform metrics reporting to validate impact and value of partnerships by articulating why the partnership matters; engage with colleagues to determine and report on internal and external metrics.
  • Inform performance reports by advising on what success looks like and the metrics and content to validate results, while working with partners and colleagues to advance and grow partnerships.
  • Serve as a leader among the team and, when applicable, manage a direct report, supporting their career development and growth.

Event & Production Support (5%):

  • Identify speakers for events and develop sponsored content briefs (along with guiding themes/questions) to guide seamless live editorial content through podcasts and virtual and live events.
  • Provide occasional on-site support for event execution, including registration, speaker wrangling, timekeeping, capturing video content, and vendor coordination as needed, being available to travel domestically and internationally 5-10% of the time.
  • Advise partners and speakers onsite to ensure a seamless experience, teeing up networking opportunities, ensuring speakers and moderators are briefed, and supporting and troubleshooting any issues.
