Finance Associate

The FHI 360 Global Connections (GC) department designs and implements high-level, innovative international exchange and training projects for emerging leaders from around the world and across a wide range of disciplines and sectors. Our programs support the development of change agents and contribute to social, economic, and community growth through professional, youth, cultural, and academic exchanges; English language acquisition; leadership development; scholarship and fellowship programs; academic partnerships; technical assistance; and institutional and individual capacity building.

As a vital member of the Global Connections (GC) Finance Team, the Finance Associate provides financial support to ensure fiscal well-being of the projects. Conducts analyses of financial data and coordinates financial/accounting operations to ensure compliance with the client’s requirements. Reviews subaward reports to determine accuracy and completeness. Compiles data and assist interpreting results to non-technical staff.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitors budgets for assigned projects to ensure costs are within budget; monitors staff LOE and updates pipelines.
  • Provides guidance to project staff on travel, procurement, and finance processes.
  • Reviews cost sheets and makes reallocations as needed or requested by Finance Manager/Project Directors.
  • Reconciles Global Connections monthly credit card bill; ensures all backup for charges are accurate.
  • Responds to questions from corporate finance and accounting team.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or its International Equivalent.

Experience:

  • 2 – 3 years of progressively responsible financial analysis experience in government contracting environment.
  • Computerized accounting software experience required.
  • Proficient in spreadsheet software required.
  • Experience in providing outstanding customer services ensuring compliance with company’s system of internal controls is required.
  • Ability to work independently and as well as part of a team.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak fluent English.
  • Non-government organization (NGO) experience preferred.

Skills:

  • Accuracy and strong attention to details in the performance of duties is of critical importance.
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, along with a willingness to interact with a variety of people and departments across organization.
  • Ability to learn and apply new skills and knowledge with routine training.
  • Excellent organizational skills, including task and time management.
  • Must have strong math and computer skills, including high proficiency with Microsoft Word/Excel, email programs, the Internet.
  • Understanding of U. S. government and NGO’s compliance and ethics.

Supervision:

  • Work is supervised by Finance Manager.

  • Personal Computer, Microsoft Office (i. e. Word, Excel), e-mail, telephone, printer, calculator, copier, etc.
