The role
The role will be home-based, with occasional international travel. The role will cover part-time, 2.5 days per week (FTE = 0.5).
The team
You will be a major part of a small team of excited, ambitious, supportive and passionate individuals. In addition, you will work closely with the Board members, composed of global leaders in the animal protection movement.

Main responsibilities:
The Finance & HR Manager is responsible for WFA’s overall financial management, HR and governance administration, in order to support the management of the association.
Main duties:
1.Financial administration, recording, control, budgeting and reporting
- Books all income and expenditure in accounting software both legally and analytically
- Collects, controls and then enters supplier invoices into the software
- Researches and resolves invoice discrepancies and issues;
- Manages time tracking per staff member per work area to ensure project control and swift adjustments in case of over/underspend;
- Records all costs analytically;
- Performs monthly bank reconciliation;
- Issues invoices on behalf of the organization; performs payments to employees by receiving and verifying expense reports;
- Analyses accounts payable and receivable, tracks expenditure and income against the budget and reports on variance; generates monthly legal and analytical management reports, quarterly Board reports and annual General Assembly reports, including financial position and trend analysis;
- Closes and produces the annual accounts (profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow statement), and manages the annual audit process;
- Produces financial reports for donors as required;
- Optimizes financial governance processes and supports prudent financial management and reporting, by developing and operating due processes and systems for financial scenario planning, budgeting, reporting, analysis and risk management.
2. Human relations and resource management
- Provides advice for management (in liaison with outsourced HR services) on questions relating to HR policy, remuneration, and employee relations management;
- Ensures the WFA’s employee and HR policies and practices are fit for purpose and in line with the WFA strategy and resources.
3. Governance support
- Support the CEO in managing the Board meetings, reporting, and governance policies;
- The employee may be asked to undertake reasonable additional duties, as required in line with the above or other organisational needs.
Person specification
Education
- A Master’s level education in a relevant degree, or equivalent work experience.
- Desirable: Chartered/ certified or advanced qualifications.
Experience
- Essential: Relevant finance administration/bookkeeping experience.
- Essential: Proven experience of financial budgeting, reporting and managing auditing processes.
- Desirable: Experience of non-profit and US GAAP, CRM and Quickbooks proficiency, expertise in developing funding proposal, working experience with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.

- Planning: You organize and structure your work around financial planning, budgeting and reporting, to meet deadlines and monitor progress.
- Communication: You are able to communicate financial information clearly to your colleagues, and responds to the needs of stakeholders to improve your financial processes.
HR and Governance Skills:
- Payroll Management: You process payroll accurately while adhering to legal and regulatory requirements, and you ensure WFA complies to relevant labor laws, such as benefits regulations, fiduciary responsibilities, and non-discrimination laws.
- Recruitment and Onboarding: You develop and implement strategies for recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new employees.
- Employee relations and performance Management: You handle and resolve employee issues, implement performance evaluation systems, plan and manage staff retreat and training.
- Policy Development: You draft, implement, and update HR and governance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with legal requirements and organizational goals while promoting a culture of ethical behaviours and maintaining DE&I throughout the organization.
- Desirable: HR certification and specific certifications related to non-profit governance and compliance.
