Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the team with a wide range of finance processes, including hands-on daily operations.
  • Act as a focal support point with internal and external stakeholders, including HQ and field offices.
  • Support teams with tasks related to the Accounts Division and financial data analysis.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities, including account reconciliations.
  • Assist with the compilation and consolidation of financial data.
  • Review supporting documents to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Support system development and process improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with the implementation and monitoring of internal control mechanisms.
  • Support the development of training materials (in-person and online) and guidance notes.
  • Assist in drafting and reviewing financial and analytical reports, including meeting minutes.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial reports, presentations, and dashboards for stakeholders.
  • Collaborate on special projects, including process improvement, data analysis, and policy development.
  • Deliver assigned tasks in a collaborative, timely, and efficient manner.
  • Take advantage of learning opportunities related to finance, process improvements, and system development.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor(s).

Qualifications / Special Skills

  • Applicants must be students currently enrolled in, or have recently completed (within one year of graduation), a graduate programme or the final academic year of a first university degree.
  • Field of study must be in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field.

Languages

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge of Arabic is desirable but not mandatory.

Additional Information

  • No prior work experience is required for the United Nations Internship Programme.
  • The candidate’s training, education, or skills should contribute to the work of the UN.
  • Specialization in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is an asset.

Intern-Specific Information

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
  • All costs related to travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution.
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the duty station country may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization.
  • Selected candidates must clarify visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
