Building movements for just, inclusive and life-sustaining societies
Hivos is an international development organization guided by humanist values, working in 40 countries. We work for a world in which individual differences are respected and people can realize their full potential. A world where together, people fight the power imbalances that perpetuate inequality, rights violations, social injustice, and environmental degradation.
Hivos helps build and strengthen social justice movements, support change-makers who confront structural oppression, and throw a lifeline to activists in danger. We work with partners in the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America on three impact areas: Gender Equality, Diversity & Inclusion; Climate Justice, and Civic Rights in a Digital Age.
Hivos is now seeking to appoint a Global Head of Finance & IT to build upon its current financial structure to support the organisation to face the challenges of the future. Reporting to the COO, the Global Head of Finance & IT will bring the finance and IT department to a higher level with a focus on optimisation, standardisation, professionalisation, and reliable delivery. The role will both ensure an integrated approach to programme and global finances, whilst also providing valuable support, guidance and framework-setting to finance teams in the regions in which Hivos works. As part of the Management Team, the Global Head of Finance & IT will act as a critical and strategic partner and adviser to the Executive Board as well as global colleagues on all related finance and IT issues, and most importantly contribute to achieving the shared mission, ambition and goals of Hivos.
For this important role at Hivos, we are now seeking a committed professional, with proven finance and IT leadership experience, ideally gained in international, non-profit settings. A strong people manager, you will be an effective team builder, supporting the finance and IT teams to deliver as a united, strategic and impactful function. You will bring significant interpersonal and communication skills to coach and inspire your team, as well the capacity to build strong relationships, convene and influence across management colleagues, as well as international and multicultural teams at all levels of Hivos. Experience with Dutch GAAP and Dutch donor legislation is not a requirement but would be considered an asset. Most importantly, the successful Global Head of Finance and IT will bring a solutions-focused approach, impeccable integrity and judgement, and an alignment with Hivos’ mission and values of inclusivity and anti-racism.
