Job Description

The role:

You will be an experienced project manager with strong and demonstrable technical, management, organisational, and interpersonal skills, including strong research and Monitoring and Evaluation Skills. You will have a minimum of five years’ experience in international development, management consulting or a relevant sector. You will be keen to travel and rotate across our portfolio of projects, supporting teams to apply our Six Pillars of Agile Project Management, including their principles and tools. You would take up a trusted position in the company, with the opportunity to support projects at various stages in their project lifecycle. You will be based and able to work in either London, Beirut, Baghdad, Tunis or Nairobi, and will be expected to rotate across regions for stints of four-to-eight months. Your work will feed into the development of our methodologies, tools and practices, and the company’s growth.

Main responsibilities:

Aktis Strategy is instituting a Project Management Program to enable experienced project managers interested in travel to rotate across project and country teams. Through this rotation scheme, you will primarily support projects at various stages in their project lifecycle.

Project management duties will include:

  • Managing a small and diverse team across levels of seniority and expertise;
  • Liaising with clients and host government officials;
  • Quality assuring deliverables and reporting;
  • Providing and convening strategic guidance on project design, delivery and evaluation;
  • Updating and managing project risk;
  • Managing technical input of partner organisations to ensure timely delivery of project activities;
  • Managing budgets, the finance and invoicing procedures, in line with our financial management procedures.

All these tasks need to be carried out in line with Aktis’s Ethical Principles and tools. Successful candidates will also have the opportunity to gain experience in corporate roles, such as Business Development, Corporate Management, and our Consulting team / practice areas.

Requirements:

  • Some years of relevant experience in international development, management consulting, or a relevant sector, preferably in research and / or monitoring and evaluation;
  • A proven track record of line and task managing teams and projects;
  • A proven ability to work with clients and manage complex stakeholder / project dynamics;
  • Respect for other cultures, and a proven interest in travel and stabilisation work;
  • Excellent writing and reporting skills;
  • A Master’s degree or a First Class Bachelor’s degree;
  • Fluency in English (full working proficiency) and one other language.
