Job Description

Overview of the position

The Head of Development reports to the Executive Director and is part of the senior leadership of the Tenure Facility. The Head of Development will be responsible for all fundraising and development activities, working closely with the Management Team and the Board of Directors to build Tenure Facility’s visibility, financial resources and donor relationships. In addition, the Head of Development will work closely with the Strategic Communications and Outreach to ensure Tenure Facility’s messaging positions it as a global financial mechanism, influences donors’ policies and longterm support to IPLC. The Head of Development must be well-versed in donor alliance building, well organized and able to meet multiple demands from diverse audiences, with a deep understanding on various funding sources.

Overarching responsibilities

· Develop and execute the Tenure Facility’s annual and multi-year fundraising goals, strategy and plans, working closely with the Executive Director, Management Team and Board members

· Adopt and lead proactive alliance building activities with top donors in the climate finance architecture.

· Develop a deck and track trends for a range current and future donors, including but not limited to bilateral and multilateral agencies, corporate and individual philanthropists and foundations

· Develop, nurture and maintain ongoing relationships with existing and potential donors, bridging them with IPLCs and key influential partners – keeping record of interactions for follow up actions.

· Curate events and actively plan for webinars, engagements, ensure special donor updates apart from regular reporting, including finding and/or supporting the Executive Director appearances in strategic donor events/engagements, and/or in initiating these events/engagements

· Oversee research of funding sources and trends, to help position Tenure Facility ahead of major funding changes or trends

· Co-create Tenure Facility’s communications as a financial mechanism, to a reach range of stakeholders (donors, IPLCs, CSO & partners, governments, private sector etc.) with the Communications Team, and provide oversight and guidance on execution of communications
