Job Description

The Role

  • Duration up to 31 December 2025 with possibility of extension

The Human Resource (HR) Advisor is a senior advisory position within the Chief Secretary Department who will work directly with the Director of Human Resources. This role leads in strategic technical support on the overall development, coordinating, implementation and monitoring of key Annual Operations Plans and Key Performance Indicator aligned with Nauru Sustainable Development Strategy objectives and goals

The role’s responsibilities and deliverables are as follows:

  • Planning, Policy and Guidance
  • Develop and implement Human Resource Information Management System
  • Workforce and Training Needs Training and Awareness
  • Provide advice and guidance on cross-cutting issues

Selection Criteria

Essential qualifications and experience

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in human resource management or public administration management qualification is highly regarded. Post graduate qualifications in a relevant field or equivalent work experience are highly desirable as are any human resources and public administration management qualifications.

  • At least 10 years’ experience in a corporate or public administration. Human resource information management system or general human resource management role with in-depth knowledge of corporation management,
  • Have strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, able to work with complex financial data.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and competency in MS Office (Word & Excel) in producing reports and drafting documents for publication
  • Experience in leading and managing teams and ability to mentor junior staff
  • Demonstrated ability to liaise, discuss and work effectively with Government officers, senior staff of the Ministry and external technical advisers

Desirable experience and knowledge

  • Experience living and working in the Pacific region
  • Experience in a developing country government corporation or human resource department
