Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations is looking for a creative, motivated, and detail-oriented individual as a Graphic Design Intern at the New York Headquarters. This internship offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Organization’s internal and external communication efforts, with a particular focus on diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and global employer marketing.
This internship is located in the Global Strategy and Policy Division (GSPD), Office of Human Resources (OHR), Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC).
As a Graphic Design Intern, you will gain hands-on experience throughout all stages of employer marketing content development, from ideation to production, while working in a vibrant, diverse, and multicultural environment.
The internship is for a minimum of two (2) months and may be extended for a period of up to a maximum of six (6) months. The internship is UNPAID and is designed to be in person and full-time at the duty station. Depending on the situation of the successful candidates, the internship may also be conducted remotely and/or in part-time. Interns work up to five days per week (35 hours) in the office to which they are assigned.

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage.
Applicant’s ability to use graphic design tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Canva, Figma, etc is desirable.
Applicant’s ability to create visual content for any of the following is desirable: social media, websites, publications, or presentations.
Ability to complete desktop publication and support event coordination, outreach activities, or the preparation of communication materials such as flyers, banners, or announcements is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
