Job Description

ERM is seeking a motivated Consultant to join Indonesia office (South & Southeast Asia) CPD to built a reputation in biodiversity and nature-based projects. This could include advisory and technical services, project development or the provision of wider environment, sustainability and conservation solutions to our clients. You may have worked in consulting or a related industry position. You will be given the freedom and flexibility to build ERMs offset proposition and lead this service offering, supported by the senior strategy makers in the region and globally, and coordinating with the delivery team of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).

This role will include:

  • Technical role in projects: technical support to the growing team of consultants in Indonesia for biodiversity and ecosystem services impact assessment and management planning with emphasis on renewable energy that include wind, solar, hydropower and other current technologies
  • Technical support on implementation of the International Finance Corporation Performance Standards (PS), with emphasis on PS6 and allied standards such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Safeguard Policy Statement (SPS) and World Bank Environmental and Social Framework (ESF)
  • Technical Support on the development of biodiversity management and action plans with emphasis on addressing residual impacts through compensatory action such as biodiversity offsets
  • Technical support on the development and implementation of projects for climate adaptation and mitigation through means such as NbS
  • Business development: Assist senior sellers and account directors/managers in identifying and pursuing potential business opportunities with existing and new clients. Help develop proposals for clients, including methodological approach and description of tasks, budgets and team structures.
  • Support team leader on brand building and promotion: support regional leadership in building capacities and sharing knowledge and lessons learnt within internal ERM consultancy team and externally: help prepare and co-lead workshops, webinars, learnig sessions and training, prepare thought leadership materials, communication pieces, guidance and toolkits.

MORE ABOUT YOU

  • Bachelor Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, or related field. Master’s degree is an advantage.
  • At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in biodiversity assessments, with a strong focus on infrastructure or energy projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading biodiversity components of ESIAs in line with international standards (IFC PS6, WB ESS6, ADB SPS, EIB, etc.).
  • Experience with Critical Habitat Assessments and the application of the mitigation hierarchy.
  • Strong knowledge of regional biodiversity and ecosystems (particularly in Southeast Asia if applicable).
  • Experience in coordinating or supervising field surveys and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of carbon markets, standards (Verra, Gold Standard, etc), service providers and anticipated trends
  • Knowledge of the low carbon economy transition and related market drivers for companies in Asia
  • Good analytical skills and ability to summarise key messages and recommendations from data analysis
  • Excellent writing and reporting skills in English.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools and biodiversity databases (e.g., IBAT, IUCN Red List, GBIF).
  • Prior engagement with development banks or DFIs is desirable.
