The Agriculture and Food Security (AFS) Practice at Chemonics works across regions to advance technical excellence and development impact by generating, capturing, and sharing knowledge in the areas of resilience, market systems, private sector engagement, access to finance, nutrition, and gender equity/youth inclusion in agriculture. The AFS Practice intern will be an integral member of the Practice Management Team (PMT) and support all aspects of practice management for a 90-day period, at 20 hours per week.
The position will include assisting with planning and implementing practice initiatives, practice management and organization, research efforts, preparing technical resources, and other new business and technical tasks as needed. The specific tasks and deliverables for the role will be determined based on priorities at the time of engagement and the intern’s interest. The AFS Practice intern will also gain an understanding of the international development field and Chemonics technical areas. This role requires on-site work in our Washington, DC office location as part of our hybrid, flexible work structure.
Responsibilities:
· Representation and Communication
o Support project knowledge capture and communications: The intern will participate in global project meetings to capture key learnings, results, and impacts from project work. They will also support the creation of conferences presentation materials and other communications to amplify project learning.
o Organization of Internal/External practice events: Participate in the organization and implementation of internal and external AFS Practice events. Including in-person participation for DC events.
o Industry pulse: track social media presence for key partners, institutions, and individuals, monitor listservs, and follow trends in research
o Attend and Report Back on Industry Events: Over the course of the internship, the intern will identify, attend, and report back on two events or webinars. The report can take the form of sharing notes with the AFS practice, hosting a brownbag/learn bite, or writing a DailyChem article or blog post.
· Technical Initiatives: Assignments will vary depending on timing and the intern’s background and interest – potential assignments include:
o Learning Product: In partnership with the AFS team and relevant projects and practice staff, produce a learning product that summarizes Chemonics approach to increasing resilience and improving food security in the face of economic, climate, and/or conflict shocks.
o New business support: In collaboration with the PMT, provide technical feedback and support to project proposals and new business efforts. This may include desk research and literature review.
· Practice Management Systems
o Create and update calendar of relevant industry events: Support the creation of a calendar or other method of comprehensively tracking important events and report releases.
o Other administrative tasks: Including scheduling meetings, taking notes and circulating action points, and assisting with processing invoices and contracts as assigned.

The Hourly Pay for this position is: $20.
An employee’s pay position will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, performance, shift, travel requirements, and business or organizational needs.
Overtime exemption status may change due to state regulatory requirements.
