Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean is one of the five regional Commissions of the United Nations.

It was founded in 1948 with the purpose of contributing to the region’s economic and social development.

Its mission includes the design, monitoring and evaluation of public policies and the provision of advisory services, expertise, and training to Governments, as well as support for regional and international cooperation and coordination activities.

The internship in the ECLAC Office in Montevideo will last 5 months, depending on the needs of the Office.

Candidates may be selected throughout the posting period, on an “as-needed” basis.

Under the supervision or overall guidance of the director Raquel Artecona.

Bajo la supervisión de la la Oficina de Cepal Montevideo, el/la pasante deberá realizar las siguientes actividades:

  • Asistir en la elaboración de un índice comentado del estudio sobre “La población migrante en Uruguay: ¿con qué datos se cuenta? ¿Cómo se podrían fortalecer?”
  • Escribir el primer borrador del informe que identifique las fuentes existentes, sus alcances, debilidades
  • Asistir en la identificación de desafíos y formulación de recomendaciones para un análisis cuantitativo, de las áreas y focos que son necesarios de abordar para las propuestas de política pública en materia de fortalecimiento de la inclusión laboral de la población migrante en Uruguay.

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

(a) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).

(b) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher)

Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience.

However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.
