Job Description

Language Training Programme Intern – Spanish Language Support (UNOG)

Work Location:
Part time, full time, in-person, hybrid, or remote

Expected Duration:
Three months as of 22 September 2025

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The intern position is located in the Language Training Programme (LTP), Centre for Learning and Multilingualism (CLM), Human Resources Management Service, United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG).
  • The LTP promotes linguistic balance and multilingualism within the UN Secretariat, as mandated by General Assembly resolutions 2480 B (XXIII), 43/224D, and 50/11.
  • It offers language courses in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish to UN staff members and personnel from related agencies and country missions.
  • In line with its goal to enhance the learning experience of clients, the intern will:
    • Support Spanish language teachers in designing and developing multimedia content (e.g., video, audio, graphics, images).
    • Assist in developing and updating learning materials, resources, and online activities using the CLM Language Learning Platform (Moodle LMS).
    • Contribute to other ongoing projects as required.
  • The intern will report to the Spanish language teachers.

Qualifications/Special Skills:

  • Applicants must meet one of the following:
    • Be enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate programme (Master’s or equivalent).
    • Be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (Bachelor’s or equivalent).
  • Professional work experience is not required, but a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary.
  • Applicants must:
    • Be currently enrolled in the final year of a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. programme or have recently completed one.
    • Indicate the eligibility criteria met and attach proof to the application. An official certificate will be required later.
  • Strong knowledge of standard software applications (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Teams) is required.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) is desirable.
  • Familiarity with design tools such as Canva, Genially, Rise 360 is an asset.

Languages:

  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
  • Fluency in English is desirable.
  • Mastery of another UN official language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian) is also desirable.

Additional Information – Intern Specific:

  • Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations.
  • Costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the intern or their sponsoring institution.
  • Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the internship location may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization.
  • Selected candidates are responsible for discussing visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
