The Strategy, Performance and Capacity Building (SPCB) team is the premier service provider of strategic planning, performance management, training, management assessments, change management support, gender integration, leadership coaching, and organizational capacity development to help our clients and local partners to ‘manage for results.’
Position Description:
SI is seeking an intern to provide support for the firm’s SPCB team. The position is based in Arlington, VA. We will consider candidates for full-time (40 hrs. /week) or half-time (20 hrs. /week) assignments. All SI interns receive a stipend.
The intern will be assigned to various SPCB projects, including technical work (e.g., research assistance, organization of tools, support tasks for analysis and reporting, etc.). The intern will have an opportunity to contribute to internal and external projects, and projects in various stages of implementation. The intern will therefore interact with multiple project teams and project managers, with one overall supervisor assisting to coordinate tasks. Interns are also able to take advantage of SI’s internal professional development opportunities (e.g., learning workshops and brown-bags) that take place regularly at SI headquarters.
Responsibilities:
Take a lead in curating and updating management consulting resources and tools on SPCB’s SharePoint site
Update the SPCB projects on the SI website and SI brochures and proposal resources
Conduct background and supporting research for ongoing and upcoming SPCB work, e.g., country profiles and contextual information for project teams and proposals; preparation of briefing materials for teams and clients; synthesis of dense prose documents into PowerPoint slides
Provide quality assurance and revisions to reports and other written deliverables
Organize and schedule events associated with various SPCB service offerings
Complete special projects under the direction of SI staff as needed
Draft SPCB-related white papers codifying SPCB methodologies into a ‘toolkit’
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (in progress or recently completed) in international development, international relations, development economics, or a closely related field
Strong ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Strong attention to detail with excellent verbal communication, writing, and editing skills
Proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Flexibility and willingness to undertake a wide variety of tasks working on different teams
Research experience
Experience with SharePoint or website development/updates (preferred)
Overseas experience and knowledge of a foreign language (preferred)
Experience working with USAID, MCC, DoS, or other donors (preferred)
