Job Description

Cardno Emerging Markets USA, Ltd. (Cardno) is seeking an International Development Specialist for a position in our Arlington, VA office (located at Courthouse Metro on the Orange Line). The position is in our Client Services Unit and focuses in the area of Economic Growth.

Key Responsibilities:

The International Development Specialist will participate in business development, project coordination and technical activities. Specific responsibilities for this position include:

Project Coordination:

  • Backstop projects, including monitoring multiple project budgets;
  • Liaise between project and the headquarters office teams on all administrative matters;
  • Mobilize consultants;
  • Review invoices and project office expenses;
  • Develop and sustain strong relationships with clients and project teams; and
  • Help project teams and consultants comply with contractual obligations.

Business Development:

  • Conduct research and gather information on new opportunities, as well as potential clients and teaming partners;
  • Assist with proposal coordination and writing of proposal sections;
  • Track client requests for proposals; and
  • Assist with the proposal recruitment process by identifying appropriate candidates for proposals, and ensures that information is appropriately filed and documented in corporate systems.

Technical Assignments:

  • Research and write for project deliverables and proposals as required.

Eminence Building:

  • Actively participate in relevant eminence building activities, such as conferences and client or partner meetings.

Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred (MBA, or relevant international development field);
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant work in the international development field;
  • Ability to apply in-depth professional knowledge to independently solve a full range of complex problems;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships;
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both oral and written;
  • Ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects and ensure completion of requisite milestones within established deadlines;
  • Knowledge of accounting, procurement and/or contract management;
    Ability to travel internationally up to 25% annually;
  • Highly motivated, organized and detail oriented;
  • Proactive and entrepreneurial;
  • Demonstrable ability in Microsoft Office suite;
  • Proficiency in English required and a second foreign language preferred; and
  • US work authorization required.
