Duties and Responsibilities
The Language Intern will directly report to the corresponding UN Web TV website Language manager under the overall guidance of the Chief of the Unit.
The Intern will contribute to the daily live and on-demand streaming coverage of United Nations meetings and events through the UN Web TV platform (https://webtv.un.org).
The candidate will be trained to use a cloud video platform to upload videos along with relevant language metadata for publishing on the UN Web TV website.
The intern may also assist with the live and on-demand streaming on Social Media accounts, including the UN Youtube channel, Facebook (UNWebTV) and Twitter (UNWebTV) as well as with other tasks.

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations New York Headquarters Internship Programme, Department of Global Communications, the following conditions must be met:

Applicants who are children or siblings of a staff member shall not be eligible to apply for an internship at the United Nations.
Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.
Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.

Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
Ability to draft news articles and/or social media posts is desirable.
Ability to design surveys and polls is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.
Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an advantage.
Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
