Job Description

Banyan Global is a consortium partner on the Jordan Economic Reform Activity (ERA) Task Order One (TO1) led by Chemonics. ERA TO1 is a 5-year activity funded by USAID. ERA is designed to support the Government of Jordan in prioritizing, implementing, and sustaining economic reforms, thereby implementing the country’s economic reform agenda. The activity focuses on four primary objectives: (1) advancing economic reforms, (2) strengthening the business enabling environment, (3) increasing exports and local, regional, and (4) international investments, and responding to emerging priorities that impact the Jordanian economy.

Banyan Global is recruiting for a full-time Investment Promotion Advisor for the ERA TO1. The position will be based in Amman with potential travel throughout the country.

POSITION DESCRIPTION  

The Investment Promotion Advisor will support ERA’s objective to enhance investment promotion and facilitation in Jordan, with an ultimate goal to advance Jordan as an attractive investment destination. The advisor will engage in assisting public and private sector actors in delivering on their mandates including all communication, promotion, and lead generation activities.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES 

Principle duties and responsibilities include:

• Support all investment-led growth activities for the project, including the activities related to the implementation of the investment promotion strategy for Jordan.
• Propose sectors for investment promotion, especially those with high potential to positively impact women and youth.
• Develop a diaspora engagement strategy to expand and diversify investment across Jordan.
• Oversee the design of promotional programs in targeted sectors and the identification targeted investor audiences.
• Identify equity investors in Jordan and regionally to secure capital for designated business partners.
• Assist in facilitating access to multinational financing mechanisms as appropriate.
• Provide thought leadership on innovative investment mechanisms to support business growth in targeted sectors.
• Collaborate with other donor-funded investment promotion activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY COMPETENCIES

• Experience in designing and delivering technical assistance to public sector entities.
• Knowledge in investment policies and financing programs in Jordan.
• Experience working with USAID and other donors.
• Strong project management, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Results oriented and self-motivated to create impact.
• Fluency in Arabic and English is mandatory.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, or related field; advanced degree is preferred.
• 7 years of progressive experience in designing and implementing investment promotion schemes.
