Chemonics seeks a Knowledge Management Communications Specialist for the USAID-funded Global Health Supply Chain- Procurement Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project who will work within the Knowledge Management and Communications (KMC) team to implement GHSC-PSM project’s communications, including developing stories and social media, editing and formatting reports and abstracts, and working closely with the broader communications and learning team — Communications, Learning, Evidence & Analytics for Results (CLEAR) — and Country Offices. Individuals interested in this work will enjoy developing and implementing dissemination strategies, editing conference materials, posting content to the website, and collaborating with technical experts as well as country teams. They will be excited to identify and produce original stories through a range of media. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

GHSC-PSM is the primary vehicle through which the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) procures and provides health commodities for countries receiving U.S. government foreign assistance. GHSC-PSM also provides technical assistance to improve the efficiency, reach, and sustainability of in-country supply chains and is supported with funding from the U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative, USAID’s family planning and reproductive health program, and USAID’s maternal and child health program.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with project and technical teams to meet needs for project communication consistent with client standards.
  • Provide quarterly reports on website traffic using CMS and Google analytics reports and recommend improvements based on key performance indicators.
  • Provide quality assurance, cross-device, and usability testing; and oversee fixes.
  • Support the KMC team in developing and implementing a digital engagement strategy.
  • Develop and publish content, such as reports, two-pagers, case studies, articles, blogs, social media, presentations, conference materials, newsletters, videos, and podcasts.
  • Draft, edit, and publish error-free products using language, grammar, and branding based on style and branding guidelines.
  • Identify stories from technical materials, such as reports and conference abstracts, and develop them into stories that follow a clear narrative arc, showcase the project’s work, and appeal to a non-technical audience.
  • Develop and maintain relationships across the project with technical and country points of contact; proactively initiate discussions, fact-check information, and ask questions to ensure high-quality communications products. Assist country teams to develop and share their voice at a global level. Share information on country activities with the KMC team and health area liaisons for their follow-up.
  • Contribute to strategic communications for GHSC-PSM that include online and offline engagement approaches, analytics, and communications trainings.
  • Work closely with graphic designers, KMC, subcontractors, country teams, technical experts, monitoring and evaluation, and data analytics team members.
  • In consultation with the KMC Communications Advisor and Coordinator, track priority conferences and contribute to editing and developing abstracts, presentations and posters.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of technically relevant work experience required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with USAID, outreach activities, or global health preferred.
  • Self-starter able to quickly learn the nuances of the global health supply chain.
  • Familiarity with AP style guide.
  • Proficient in Microsoft products, including formatting in Word and managing files in SharePoint.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, and lead presentations, training courses, and effective meetings.
  • Highly organized, able to meet deadlines and prioritize multiple communications products from colleagues across the project, while ensuring that quality, accuracy, and grammar are not sacrificed for expediency.
  • Demonstrated creative thinking skills.
  • Experience developing professional content for websites, social media, and digital engagement.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in developing or editing podcasts or video preferred.
  • Fluency in English required; proficiency in French preferred.
