Job Description
Chemonics seeks a Lead Instructional Designer for our newly-created InDepth initiative. InDepth is a hybrid knowledge sharing and learning platform for Chemonics’ global workforce. It will provide high-quality and dynamic content to ensure our global workforce is better connected, has work-related trainings at their fingertips, and is empowered to do their work efficiently and successfully. The Lead Instructional Designer for InDepth will produce scalable training content for all of Chemonics’ global workforce. The Lead Designer will help create design standards, manage other designers on the team, and collaborate closely with the InDepth teams to design, create, implement, and maintain instructional content in a hybrid learning environment for a diverse global audience. Responsibilities include:

Generate and customize innovative, high-quality trainings and learning objects for Chemonics’ global workforce

Collaborate with InDepth team to use subject matter expert (SME)-provided content to design, create, implement, and maintain trainings for a global audience

Establish branding standards and define User Experiences (UX) and (User Interfaces (UI) for the InDepth platform to ensure consistency and instant awareness for users

Perform needs and task analysis, scope projects, and evaluate existing documentation to identify the most appropriate training approach and content

Independently create storyboards, audio, and video scripts, job aids, scenarios and case studies, learning activities, online course content, web applications, infographics, learning assessments, and user guides using sound instructional design theory

Create engaging quizzes, simulations, and assessments based on learning and performance objectives

Manage complex relationships with global SMEs in an environment with short deadlines and high business impact

Maintain and develop course templates, models, standards, and procedures

Stay abreast of the latest trends and best-practices in the eLearning and instructional design community in order to enhance and expand on training objects and deliverables

Collaborate with team of instructional designers to ensure quality standards are met on all projects

Supervise, develop, and evaluate assigned staff; ensure staff receive regular constructive performance feedback, prompt resolution of problems, and the time and opportunity to grow professionally

Qualifications:
-
Minimum five years of proven experience designing trainings

Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree preferred

For internal applicants, Manager B’s are eligible to apply

Experience using authoring tools (e.g. Lectora, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite)

Demonstrated ability to create new environments using a combination of Java, HTML, or CSS

Strong graphics skills to create style guides, course templates, web applications, graphic user interfaces, flow charts, etc.Familiarity designing and developing eLearning, multimedia and other computer based training in a short amount of time, ideally within a corporate training environment

Experience translating technical-functional content into an enjoyable and consumable user experience

Experience in social-collaborative learning methodologies and able to create XML-based reinforcement and promotional games and animations

Knowledge of Section 508 requirements as applied to course design and development

Familiarity with SCORM, AICC, and xAPI (limitations and possibilities)

Demonstrated experience managing instructional design teams and working cross-functionally with other technical and non-technical teams

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity
Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with EdCast or a similar social learning platform
-
Experience developing globalized content and applying localization approach for context specific audiences

Familiarity with successive approximation model or agile software design
-
Familiarity in the use of large-scale LMS (e.g., Cornerstone) and mLearning platforms to host content
